4 weeks after put in, my nose got red, swollen & pus. I contacted the Dr. who put them in & he tried to remove. This was unsuccessful, but he did a culture swab & it tested positive for staph. Fast forward now 2 months, it is still infected. I have had 3 rounds of oral antibiotics (clindamycin 300 mg tid for 10 days), 4 failed removal attempts, 2 antibiotics shots in my glute and many injections of antibiotics all over my nose. Told all we can do is stay on meds until it dissolves.
Can you get an infection in PDO threads 2 years after having them put in or are they fully dissolved? I had Covid in December which obviously left my immune system compromised, and straight afterwards my face, chin, throat, ears etc (and afterwards further down my body too) broke out in acne and bumps filled with liquid. I think its a combination of hormonal acne and perhaps an infection from the threads - the sores/cysts seem to be concentrated at the entry points of the threads
Can cog threads can be safely removed without disfiguring my face? I had 4 cog threads inserted into my face; 2 on the jaw line + 2 from corners of mouth to ears. One of the later became infected. I've been constantly on abx for infections but only resolves temporarily. Ultrasound shows hypoechogenicity + increase in color doppler signal around cog thread. Alterations was most likely of inflammatory nature possibly due to reaction to foreign body. I was on abx when ultrasound was done.
I am a dancer and train at least 4 hours a day. I am looking to have PDO cogs put into my face and possibly my neck. I can modify the training I do, but I cannot take off a month. Can you please explain what the potential issues with exercise are? Raised blood pressure? Infection from sweat? Dislodging/moving threads from banging the area? Issues with stretching? If I know what the potential problems stem from, I am hoping to be able to modify things within those parameters. Thanks so much!
