4 weeks after put in, my nose got red, swollen & pus. I contacted the Dr. who put them in & he tried to remove. This was unsuccessful, but he did a culture swab & it tested positive for staph. Fast forward now 2 months, it is still infected. I have had 3 rounds of oral antibiotics (clindamycin 300 mg tid for 10 days), 4 failed removal attempts, 2 antibiotics shots in my glute and many injections of antibiotics all over my nose. Told all we can do is stay on meds until it dissolves.
