Rash from spironolactone? (Photos)

Yes spironolactone can cause a rash that will sometimes go away on its own. The rash is usually on the feet but it can be anywhere. However spironolactone can also cause what is called a stevens johnson syndrome reaction so if you get any sudden severe worsening of the rash, headaches, vomiting or visual changes go to the doctor or ER immediately. The incidence of this is not common but possible. Most of the time its an itchy rash on the feet that resolves.

Hello and thank you for your question and photographs. It is possible that you had a reaction to spironolactone, since you developed a rash just after starting to take the medication. Now that you have stopped the medication, I would avoid restarting the medication and seek evaluation from a board certified dermatologist or primary care provider. Best of luck.
