I'm reaching out for a second opinion on my nose following open rhinoplasty 14 months ago. While I am generally pleased with the overall shape, Ive been struggling with a few ongoing issues that are impacting how I feel about the outcome: Blanching and stiffness at the tip The tip of my nose feels very firm and immobile. I wasnt aware that a graft would be used in my procedure, and Im finding it difficult to adjust to how solid the structure now feels. When I move my mouth or smile, the tip remains rigid, and the skin stretches tightly over it, causing noticeable blanching. This is particularly visible when smiling, and the underlying cartilage becomes quite prominent. Asymmetry The right side of my nose appears sharper and more defined than the left, adding to the feeling of imbalance. My surgeon's view was that blanching like this can occur in patients with thin skin, where the skin effectively shrink-wraps around the cartilage framework. He advised that its not dangerous and unlikely to worsen over time. He mentioned several possible approaches, including: Doing nothing, as it may not become more noticeable. Subcision needling, to release the skin from the cartilage and potentially soften the structure (not widely used in this context, but considered low risk). Nanofat or microfat injections, to cushion the area and improve skin quality, particularly as my skin has also been affected by past Roaccutane treatment. Further surgery, involving a fascia
Hello. I am hoping you can give me some advice. I had my rhinoplasty 6 months ago (next week). Please see attached photos. My columella is extremely tight and stiff and my tip rock hard. I know the swelling can take around a year or more to resolve. My question is, will the tightness of my columella resolve? I feel that I have a lot of extra space between my lip and nose. My nose doesnt when smiling/laughing. Als the bump in the circled photo, does this look normal?
Considering a one piece silicone paranasal implant to help correct a flat face and increase midface convexity. How is patient satisfaction with this type of surgery? How does this implant affect nostril shape? What is recovery like with regards to stiffness and swelling? Supposedly this implant gives the illusion of a smaller nose from the profile by building up the soft tissues around the nose.
So I would like to get radix grafting to vertically lengthen my nose from the front but also would more tip projection. Many other patients want to reduce tip dropping, but I actually want to KEEP my tip drooping so that my philtrum doesn't appear longer after surgery. I am worried that getting cartilage on the tip and bridge will stiffen it up too much. I appreciate any assistance!
Hello, I have done rhinoplasty with rib cartilage grafting 8 months ago, the doctor removed the cartilage from the 5th rib partially. And now, after 8 months, I still can't sleep on my right side and I have pain during activity, and by contracting the right pectoral muscle, I get neuralgia and stiffness of the trapezius on the same side. What do you think is the problem?
I had a open septoplasty / rhinoplasty 7 months ago First off my nose is still crooked and he did not adjust my nostrils as requested The nostrils one is higher and they are Second is I developed a bump right above the top on left side Its a small pimple like bump but is not sore and will not go away Third my hand slipped with an object in it and in unfortunately hit the left side of my tip My tip has still been completely stiff 7 month post op I now have a dent . Hi, I am 26 year old female and i had a consultation with a doctor who wanted to use a strut in my nose to bring tip support. But as understood by patients who had a strut , it makes the nose stiff as well as less dynamic and sometimes you feel it.Heceforth , i dont want to get this strut. What other things can be done to support the tip of a thick skin nose? I have a bit of a hanging columella and would hate the stiff sharp look a strut provides.
Hi, I had an open septo-rhinoplasty in November 2020, with a significant amount of tip reconstruction. Now, ten months later, I still have a stiffness and tenderness to my nose, especially within the tip region. There is still a substantial amount of edema that persists, and I know this by how my nose appears in the morning versus at night. There is a stark contrast in terms of its size. At this point, should I still consider having a steroid injection? Or will it be ineffective?
I had my surgery in June 2018 and was told by my surgeon that it would take 2 years to see the final results due to my thick oily skin. I am overall pretty happy with my results but my columella is stiff and droopy. The surface of the tip also appears a little uneven in some photos. I was wondering if this would improve anymore in the next year and if anything could be done to speed up the process e.g. steroid injections?
I had a closed rhinoplasty to remove a hump. My nose tip is stiff and looks like it's somewhat hanging up which is making my nostrils appear a bit lengthened. I was assured that my front view would look exactly the same after the surgery and that my surgeron didn't touch my tip at all. No grafts or anything. Will my tip settle to how it used to look once my swelling goes down? Am I worrying for no reason? I've been stressing out about not looking the same even though my surgeron said I would.
