Will my tip eventually settle to how it was before? (photos)

Question

I had a closed rhinoplasty to remove a hump. My nose tip is stiff and looks like it's somewhat hanging up which is making my nostrils appear a bit lengthened. I was assured that my front view would look exactly the same after the surgery and that my surgeron didn't touch my tip at all. No grafts or anything. Will my tip settle to how it used to look once my swelling goes down? Am I worrying for no reason? I've been stressing out about not looking the same even though my surgeron said I would.

Hello,It appears as though your tip cartilages have been affected, either trimmed or detached from other cartilages, producing a retraction of the ala, leading to an elongation or enlargement of your nostrils. This is the problem with closed rhinoplasty: there is (usually) no supporting grafts placed to maintain structural stability, leading to unanticipated changes. Get a second opinion from a few ABPS certified/ASAPS member surgeons who specialize in revision rhinoplasty. Best of luck!

You have to give yourself some more healing time.  Your nose and surrounding areas are going to be swollen for a while and you should be consulting the surgeon that performed the procedure. It can take up to a year for final results.

Dear Thoughtful7261, I would listen to your surgeon at this point as he/she knows where you are in the recovery phase, what your proposed results were and what techniques were used during your procedure. See your surgeon often for follow up appointments and hopefully this will provide you some peace of mind during the recovery period. Based on the information you shared, I don’t think you have anything to worry about,  It is normal to experience swelling for months following surgery.  Trust your surgeon.
