I'm seeing conflicting information about how to care for the columella incision once stitches are removed. The surgeons I'm looking at all remove stitches after a week. What do you have your patients do once stitches are removed? Leave it dry? Keep it moisturized? Just clean and apply vaseline every day? Or do you recommend scar gel? Or silicone sheets? Do you recommend massages or is it better not to touch it? Want to do whatever I can to minimize scar visibility!
Hi. I been noticing something off with my columella. My tip in general. My surgeon checked it out and said it looks good but the scar where the insicion looks a bit raised. Instructed me to massage and I been but dont see ANY different. Whats going on with my nose?!!!!!
I'm scared of getting a rhinoplasty because of my dermatographia condition. My concern is that the incisions during the surgery will cause my skin to flare up and get swollen and could present a problem for the surgeon to operate and then stich up the nose. Have you done rhinoplasty on patients with dermatographia. What has your experience been like?
I am looking at getting a ?bullhorn? lip-lift (Dec 2023) *before* my nose job (Apr 2025). For my nose job I need septoplasty for two deviations (slightly leans to my right side), inferior turbinoplasty x 2, and alarplasty (nostril holes too wide, too much flaring and also the wing skin is too fat). Will getting a lip lift roughly 12-15months prior affect or interfere with the incision lines/scarring for the nose job (alarplasty, in particular)? Or results be compromised? :)
I had a rhinoplasty w/ alarplasty 5 weeks ago and the left side is healing great, but on the right side there is a bump that isnt flush with the contour of my nostril. Is this scar tissue that will need to be excised or can this be corrected with laser (if it is scar tissue)? Ive been very patient and have been waiting it out before wanting to contact my PS in hopes that its just normal healing, but it isnt looking like a scab that will fall off, but discolored flesh instead. Thank you
How long should there be a scab on the internal incision after a closed rhinoplasty? I cant get it on the picture but when I put my finger an bit inside it is right after that bulge, where I drew the blue line. Horizontal and against my septum. I also noticed these yellow spotty crusts on the side of my columella, pretty obvious in the picture. Is that normal? My surgeon never once looked inside my nostrils to see if everything had healed right :(
My nostrils were wide & tip droopy. My surgeon stated I have thick skin. Surgeon performed weir incision for nostrils and tongue and grove method on my tip. He stated he had to overcorrect my tip due to the droopiness of my nose. After cast removal my nose never looked normal. Im so embarrassed to be seen in public. Reached out to him several times but he says I need to be patient; in his experience the retraction will improve over time. If not Plan B. He will go in and lower the suture.
I am having rhinoplasty soon and i wanted to ask about my recovery. I read somewhere that people use hydrogen peroxide on their incisions with q-tips, to help remove any blood/crusts. Is that a good idea, how and when do i use that? Also people say to use ointment on the incision scar to help heal, what type is recommended?
Hi Doctors, One month ago, I got a open rhinoplasty with alarplasty. However, no bones were broken. My nose bridge was enhanced with silicone implant and my tip was enhanced with my ear cartilage. I also had my alar reduced. Right now, there is not much swelling left and all incisions are healing well. I am now 4 weeks post-operation and was thinking if it is okay to smoke? Will smoking affect my final result? I know smoking is bad but I deal with anxiety and it calms me down.
