I think I've slept on my right side my whole life, thus developed this asymmetry. It seems like my right ear is pinned back more than the left. My left ear is also signficantly lower than my right. It makes wearing my glasses a serious pain in the butt and very distracting in my daily life. There is a significant gap. If I put on my glasses, I can fit the tip of my finger in the gap between the left ear and the temple of the glasses that is supposed to rest my ears.
I had my ears pinned when I was about 10 years old (22yrs old now) and they were over corrected, well the left one was. It is now an unusual shapone and its quite hard compared to my other ear. When I touch the back its as if I can still feel stitches in it. I am very self conscious of them as they have the telephone shape and people comment on the fact that they look strange. I rarely wear my hair up and it also hurts to to wear glasses or a head band. Is there anything that can be done to fix this?
The stitch on the left ear started working its way out about 15 years after surgery. My Doctor at the time pulled it out and I have a small round indentation where the stitch came out. Now Forty years after surgery on my right ear in the exact same place it is happening again. I keep having bouts with MRSA , not sure if I should have this one pulled out or just keep it clean and let it work its way out on its own. My glasses are really irritating it.
It's about a week since my otoplasty surgery but I am worried that if I begin to use my glasses this early it would effect the outcome of my results. I do feel a little pain/discomfort when wearing them. Should I stop wearing them and if so how long should I wait till I am able to wear glasses without it affecting my ears development. Or can I wear them now? The glasses don't push out my ears or anything but they just give me some pain/discomfort.
