Hi, I've had my chin implant for 8 years and now considering getting it removed. At least once a year, my chin will swell causing discomfortable and embarrassment. After I take a 10 day antibiotic , things get back to normal. 3 yrs ago, I had another plastic surgeon reopen the incisions in my mouth to do a thorough cleaning but still hasn't fixed the problem. What should I do? Thanks.
I received a large silastic chin implant and I've been numb on the lower right lip and chin ever since. I don't feel any tingling unless I pucker my lips like a kissy face, and even then it's faint. I can feel the implant through my gums (there's a ridge there underneath my molars). My PS says it's my own bone, but I don't think so. I also feel discomfort and mild pain when I talk a lot on the right side. For doctors here, has removing the implant improved these symptoms for past patients?
I had a large silicone implant inserted under my chin in august 2016. I understand scar tissue forms and healing can take time. What I am experiencing is on and off discomfort. When I smile sometimes my skin feels really tight and I don't like how my chin feels after waking up since I sleep on my side. I just want the object out. I'm worried about bone erosion, damaging nerves, chin dimples, and skin sagging. I am 26. First photo is before.
I am 5 months post op from a chin implant. I am having some soreness/ discomfort when I smile occasionally. Not all the time, but sometimes I notice the discomfort. Ive also had some acne pop up around the area so that could be contributing to the soreness since the acne is somewhat inflamed but I am concerned the implant is infection. Should I go in and see my surgeon?
I have committed chin implant in a 2 weeks. But am concerned with realistic level of pain, as surgeons feedbacks vs patients seem quite different. Surgeons say most pain is in first few days, easily manageable with pain killers, with swelling to go down first wk & recovery in couple mths. But patients from forums says pain can last several wks (some quite painful 1st week or more) and recovery is more than 2 mths, can be 6 mths. Appreciate opinion regarding pain, swelling & recovery expectation.
5 months ago, I received surgery for a relatively large chin implant that caused my bottom lip to somewhat conceal my bottom row of teeth. Next week, I have scheduled an apptmnt, to have molds done for my retainers, but the problem is, is that I am afraid that the tool that they use to form the mold, may put pressure on my bottom lip and chin implant, causing pain and discomfort in the surgical area. Is it possible for it to shift because of this? *They also apply pressure for about 15 seconds.
My question is can the chin implants used in 1978 break down over the years and cause problems in the glands in the neck.......i have pretty bad discomfort in my glands in my neck and they stay somewhat swolen. could this be from the implant breaking down? is there some sort of testing that can be done to see if I have toxins from the silicone or casing of the silicone in my system? I'm desperate to find this out. I feel worse as time goes on. thank you
