I have read many of you recommend Silicone Sheets (they need be applied less often correct?) and Or Paper Tape... For the Tummy Tuck scars and Breast Lift scars. I have not gotten mine done yet but would like to have the needed supplies on had for when I do have it done in January of 2012. So with all of the companies telling us their product is best. What do you say?
I am currently 5 weeks post op and am wondering whether a topical cream, silicone strips or scar massage is best to reduce the redness/raising of the scars? I was given biocorneum after surgery, however tried the Embrace strips as well. I didnt find them the most comfortable, but am wondering if they make a dramatic difference in the ultimate outcome (less redness/raised scars)? Or, will the topical & scar massage work just as well? Thanks!
I had a breast lift within the last 5 months. My doctor recommended silicone gel strips. They have helped reduce my scarring compared to what they were before, but nothing significant. The scars are causing pain and interfere with my movement. I have been seeing online that patients have treated their scars with injections and laser. However, I read that some injections may actually worsen the condition. I am at a loss for what I should do.
Its been 26 days post op and Im so itchy and red, my scars pull too, my surgeons office said to start using the silicone tape on my scars, and since I started it I think Im developing a reaction to it??? My surgeon said itll take 6 months for full Results - any suggestions are appreciate! Thank you
My new surgeon does tegaderm for 3 months then switches to silicone of my choice. I purchased embrace for my lollipop incision. This is a breast lift revision. My precious lift is atrocious and I was left with wide scars due to tension (I was told this by multiple consults I went on) Curious as to what other surgeons scar control protocol is, when do you have your patients start silicone sheets?
Please give me all the tips and advice you have for achieving the best scar possible. I understand that genetics play a large role and with any surgery a scar is inevitable. I just want to give my scar the best possible care I can. From online research, I've come up with the following : Vaseline, scar massage, ice packs, silicone scar sheets and tretinoin. Are these good options? If so, when should I start implementing each into my post care routine? Are there better things I should be doing?
I am having a breast lift with augmentation (anchor lift) August 23rd. I am not thrilled that I will have the vertical scar but have accepted it for the results I want. I would like to start using a scar minimizing cream/silicone sheet as soon as I am allowed. I would like suggestions as to what is the best from your experience.
I had my surgery on 9/28 Im about 7 weeks and now my left breast scars looks like I have a hold. My doctor says it is ok & Im just looking for a second opinion. Should I not used the silicone tape until those closed up & heal completely?
