I have been off accutane for six months (my course was 20mg 8 months of treatment) however I still have two side effects that really concern me, hair loss, thinning and chapped lips (peeling every other day). I have done a blood test to check things like TSH (1.86) vitamin b12 (362 pg/ml) Cortisol (20.73 ug/dl) Testosterone (5.86 ng/ml) prolactin (23.44 ng/ml) E2(54.95 pg/ml) HGB (16.3 g/dl) MCV (92.7 f/L) Im 28yo, 5.7 and 176 lbs. How can i treat that? Is it permanent damage?
It has been 3-4 years after accutane and I continue to have severe lip sunburn. This did not occur prior to accutane and since taking it, my lips get severe sun burn. It usually takes a week to heal after getting severely red and getting blisters on my lips. I have tried to use sunscreen chap stick and reapply. It helps a little, but does not solve the issue. Please help, this is a major inconvenience and I deal with this multiple times every year.
I have really uneven skin, and dark spots with hyperpigmentation around my lips. Ive been using a hydroquinone based product called Carolight (recommended by a family member) to even my skin tone, and its been working pretty good, I started my Accutane treatment a week ago and notice that my skin is slightly getting darker in some areas and it is really bothering me. If hydroquinone is not safe is there any other procedure, treatment or products that will help even out and lighten my skin?
I was told by my dermatologist that I need to take accutane with a lot of fatty foods. Whenever I have a meal, I immediately take my pill and take it with a scoop of peanut butter and then a fish oil tablet. Do I need more or is this enough? I have had almost no dryness on my face besides on my lips and have been on the medicine for roughly 4 months now at 80 mg a day, with 81kg being my weight.
I am on a 80mg dose of accutane and have developed Angular cheilitis on both sides of my lips for about 3 weeks. My dermatologist has me using hydrocortisone which has helped a bit but I still have to apply cream constantly just to keep my lips from bleeding throughout the day. I am just one month away from finishing my treatment if I stay at this dose so I am hoping to be able to fix the Angular cheilitis without lowering my dose.
