8 Months Post Breast Reduction Surgery - Could this be a Scar Tissue, Fat Necrosis or Suture Granuloma?

I had a breast reduction surgery 8 months ago and now have this painful, very soft, reddish and purple swollen area on my incision between my nipple and bottom of my right breast and the skin stretched out and peeled over it! Had no exercise or physical pressure in that area. Is this a scar tissue, fat necrosis or suture granuloma? Will it gradually go away??

Previously when I viewed your photos, I recommended that you follow up with your PS.  Now three months later, the area of concern has not improved.  Return to the PS who performed your BR for an exam and possible imaging.

This could certainly be a cyst or other infectious process. See your surgeon as soon as possible for evaluation and treatment.

You should definetly be seen by your surgeon. There are any number of things this could be including an infection, a hematoma, an infected hematoma, or something else.  You need an in person evaluation preferably with the person who performed your surgery.  Good luck.

Thank you for sending your question and photos. And please don't panic about about it, it looks like a fat necrosis. However this process is a self limiting process. Please visit your initial surgeon for more advice

From the photo the most likely diagnosis is an abscess or infected cyst.  This should be drained and cultured. You should see your surgeon ASAP
