Best way to prevent scars after breast revision w/lollipop lift? 1st surgery w/benelli gave "starburst" stretched scar (Photo)

The issue of the scar in a Benelli lift underscores the importance of avoiding skin tension on an incision.  In a Benelli lift, a permanent suture is placed circularly around the areola in order to relieve this tension.  On occasion, this suture either breaks or slips through and the areola widens along with poor scar formation.  Any scar will heal poorly if tension exists. In a lollipop lift, if tension exists, that scar will heal poorly as well.  It is, therefore, critical that lifts not be performed as a skin lift operation.  Newer techniques that reconstruct and lift the breast from within that rely on the internal fascia of the breast usually produce good quality scars.Ary Krau MD FACS

With a Benelli brest lift, the skin is gathered and closed under some tension, which is different than a C-section where there is no tension. Your Benelli scars do not look terrible but converting to a vertical (lollipop) may improve shape. One way to take tension away from a Benelli lift is with a SERI or Strattice donut graft under the skin. 

Often the scarring is better with a lollipop lift because the tension is distributed differently. But each patient will heal differently and every doctor has different post-op instructions for care. Best to check with your doctor.

Your current scars have not
matured yet as they are still pink. Try one of the various scar
treatments to help them mature a little faster, such as Scar Guard, Biocorneum,
or silicone sheets. If you do decide on another surgery and want to avoid the
most scarring have the lower half scar revised first and then wait a few months
and do the upper half. also use scar treatment post op. Start about 2-3
months after surgery. A lollipop lift would work too.
