Hello! I have struggled with acne for the past 13 years or so. I've done 2 rounds of Accutane and have been left with some terrible depressed scars around my cheeks, right temple, and forehead. I recently visited a Derm and he was confident that 3 treatments of Halo would be able to give me dramatic results to my depressed scars, around 50% improvement in the color of the scars, and have less of a recovery time. Does this sound accurate? I'm so scared and nervous about getting this done!!
Answer: Halo Laser Treatment Thank you for your question in regards to Halo Laser treatment. We have a Halo Laser in our office, and it is one of our favorite treatments to help with fine lines and wrinkles, texture, tone and skin pigment. It also makes a big difference in scarring when used on more aggressive settings with multiple treatments. Because it is a fractional treatment you do have less recovery time than a full surface ablative treatment, but you have to do more than one treatment. That treatment plan sounds accurate, and reasonable, and as long as you prep your skin prior and follow appropriate post-procedure instructions, we find that it works well in our practice and our clients are very satisfied with their results. To find out what is best for you, see two or more board-certified providers in your area for a complete evaluation to make sure you are a good candidate and that it is safe for you to have treatment. I hope this helps.

Answer: Halo for acne scar Thank you for the great question and the photo. Acne scars can be very difficult to treat and often times do require multiple treatments for a significant improvement to be seen. I have had very good success with Halo for treating acne scars. It will help to even out your skin tone and will decrease the depth/appearance of the scars. Be patient as it can take 8-12 weeks before the collagen is able to grow into the scars. I agree that you will need at least 3 treatments to see a significant result. I think you will love your results from the treatments, but be patient! Best of luck!~Dr. Sieber

Answer: Laser for Acne Scars Thanks for your question and I'm so sorry you had to deal with such significant acne. Acne scars are one of the most difficult things to treat in cosmetic dermatology. I used to use ProFractional and have completely switched as I find it gives better results with easier downtime. I generally find it takes 4-6 treatments to get ideal results with acne scars, however a lot depends on the intensity of the treatment. I treat the entire face, but am much more aggressive over areas of scarring and also use BBL in the same session to help with the color. Finally, for very deep icepick scars, I often use punch biopsy technique to remove them or subscision to help them pop out. Regardless, congratulations on making the steps to start improving your skin!

Answer: Neither - micro needling PRP or CO2 Fractional and filler. I suggest seeing someone who does a lot of acne scar revision. IMO only, I would suggest a combination of the above. Sure, Profractional can be used ( I do have these lasers) however it is always important to match a treatment with your scar type. See web reference for details. All the best in your decision making. Dr Davin Lim. Brisbane. Australia.
