Thank you for your question. In my practice, I recommend to start Minoxidil 3 weeks after Hair Transplant . As a principle, I always would like to check the skin condition after the recovery and then confirm the start up for the treatment.
It is best to contact your doctor about post operative care and instructions since each doctor has a different regimen.Minoxidil is not required after surgery.
After your hair transplant operation you should wait up to 8 months to use minoxidil. If there is shock loss on the donor area, than you can only apply it where the loss is at on the donor side.
Dear Frank Mulero,Thank you for posting this question. I have my patients wait for 10 days following their surgery to allow for the grafs to heal in. Always check with your hair transplant surgeon about what your specific directions are, but 10 days is a good amount of time for the tiny wounds around the implanted follicles to heal up. I hope this information is helpful to you.Kind Regards,Ken Anderson, MD, FISHRS
If you are talking about resuming Minoxidil after a procedure I generally advise my patients to wait 10 days so that they don't inadvertently manipulate the grafts.
