Pink skin on breasts post BA. Is this excessive stretching? (Photo)

It is difficult to comment on your results at this point without having preoperative photos available. However, your breasts look reasonable for one month postop. At this point there is still swelling and the implants have not settled. Pink areas in the skin are very common after surgery, particulary with lighter skin types, and may be exacerbated with larger implants. This is due dilated skin vessels and will usually resolve with time. Follow your surgeons instructions for post op care for best results.

Your breasts look within norm for 4 weeks postop. Continue to follow up with your surgeon so they monitor your progress.

I understand you are concerned with the appearance of your scars. As your scars heal, it should flatten out and lighten. Loss of pigmentation or hyperpigmentation may also be experienced but will resolve over time. Always follow your surgeon's post operative care instructions when it comes to scar management to avoid any complications like infection and for faster healing and recovery.

Pink skin on the breasts following breast augmentation (BA) could potentially be a sign of excessive stretching, but it's not necessarily the only explanation. There are several reasons why the skin on the breasts might appear pink or reddish after breast augmentation surgery:
1. Normal Healing Process: Some degree of redness or pinkness around the incision sites is common as the body heals from surgery. This is typically part of the normal inflammatory response.
2. Skin Stretching: Excessive stretching of the skin due to implants that are too large or placed improperly could cause pinkness or redness. This may indicate that the implants are putting too much pressure on the skin, leading to irritation.
3. Infection: Infections can cause redness, warmth, and swelling around the incision sites. If the pink skin is accompanied by other symptoms such as fever, increased pain, or discharge, it could be a sign of infection and should be evaluated by a medical professional.
4. Inflammation or Irritation: Sometimes, the body's response to the implants can cause inflammation or irritation, leading to pink or reddened skin.
5. Allergic Reaction: In rare cases, an allergic reaction to the implant material or surgical components could cause skin redness or irritation.
If you're concerned about the pink skin on your breasts after breast augmentation, it's essential to consult with your plastic surgeon. They can assess your situation and determine whether the redness is normal or if further evaluation and treatment are needed.

Based on your pictures the pinkness you see is does not look concerning.  It appears you are healing normally at this point.  continue to follow up closely with your surgeon. 

Four weeks is still early after surgery and there is still considerable healing going on. It is not unusual for there to be a slight redness like in the picture. One would expect by two months it would be gone. Hope that helps! Dr. Z
