I have a mole removed via shave biopsy and the results came back "moderate atypical mole, examined margins negative". The dermatologist office leaves it up to the patient if they want to go back and get more taken out if the results and mild or moderate. What should I do based on the diagnosis?

You really have only 1 choice. You have to shave it flat and dermabrade the edges under local. The ugly scar from excision would be unacceptable. Cost is about $500 and so worth it. There is only a 50% chance it will grow back in 5-10 yrs and then just shave it down again.
