Thanks for your question because, unfortunately, diabetes is a common malady for many people. Your overall health and control of blood sugar comes first and elective procedures can be performed once you have achieved that. Complications such as infection, although very rare, are increased in cases of poorly managed diabetes. In addition, this is an issue in the long term life expectancy as well as quality of life that should be discussed with your primary care physician. Good luck and seek a qualified plastic surgeon after you have this sorted out and your A1C lowered.
A single blood test does not make you diabetic, but I suspect you have a known medical condition otherwise you wouldn't be fishing for the answer you wish you would hear. You cannot have lipo with diabetes or with an abnormal blood test of unknown significance. The only diabetics who are acceptable for lipo have diet controlled diabetes (type 2) after a full medical evaluation.
Standard liposuction shouldn't be affected by diabetic disease. If you add skin cutting like breast lifting, tummy tuck etc then you are more predisposed to infections and other complications if the diabetes is not under control. Please see an expert for evaluation. I personally like VASER hi definition more than smart lipo anymore. Best, Dr. Emer.
Thank you for your question. You should definitely get this disease under better control (A1C closer to 6-7 range, or the goal set by your physician). You will be at increased risk of infection and other wound complications at your current state. Please make this a priority in your life over the next 6 months. Best wishes.
No one should do any type of cosmetic procedures, even liposuction, until their diabetes is under good control; meaning a HgbA1C of 7 to 8 or less. This is better for your health too.

Swelling after Smartlipo takes several weeks to fully resolve, so at this point it's tough to say whether the area you are concerned about leftover fat or just mild swelling in the tissues that's causing the bulge. Special massage techniques and heat to the area, under the guidance of your...
Smartlipo deformity is something we see all too often after smartlipo, literally on average one patient a week with a very similar story and outcome. Smartlipo uses a laser to burn the fat deep to the skin prior to liposuction. When done in an irregular or aggressive fashion the burned s...
