I need my retainers from vivera replaced at no fault of my own. Any suggestions?

finished my invisalign treatment, and now I purchased the vivera retainers (3) , afterward I needed a crown - unfortunately the crown was not made to fit my retainers- the dr. punched a hole in the one retainer for now, I am asking for my retainers to be replaced at no cost to me - they were expensive and the crown was to be made to fit. the dentist is now saying she doesn't think she can do it at no cost? what is my recourse?

Any time dental treatment is done there is a possibility retainers won't fit. Each crown is individually made so the only way to guarantee the fit of the retainer would be to send that to the lab during fabrication of the crown. It isn't fair to ask the dentist to replace your retainers at no cost because you needed a crown. I'm sure that both of you can come to an amicable fee that is reasonable for you and doesn't create a financial loss for the dentist.

Hi there,Anytime dental work is completed after an appliance has already been made, there is a chance it will need to be remade. This includes retainers, nightguards, whitening trays. If this crown was planned before the retainers were made, your dentist should have had that conversation with you. If the crown discussion came up after the retainers were made, even though they're new retainers, it would be expected they would no longer fit and you would need new ones. I agree that it would be fair to discuss this openly and honestly with your dentist in order to meet somewhere in the middle. Good luck!
