Answer: Free Silicone Oil Removal From Buttocks Hi and thank you for your question regarding if free silicone oil can be removed from your buttocks. I specialize in the removal of silicone oil and injections. I've done over a thousand removals. You will need an MRI to see what kind of procedure will best fit your needs. If the silicone is in the muscle, you must remove it with the open technique. If the silicone is just in the fatty layer and you don't have bad skin changes, you may be a candidate for the closed technique. Reconstruction (BBL or fat transfer) should NOT be done at the same time as the removal. This will lead to high risk of infection and death of the newly transplanted fat. I hope that I have answered your questions regarding removing silicone from the buttock The FDA warns AGAINST silicone injections on their website. The FDA states “Do not get injectable silicone or any type of filler material for large-scale body contouring or enhancement.” Also, the FDA has said “Injectable silicone is permanent, with side effects that can occur right after the injection and up to years after treatment. Silicone spreads and migrates easily inside the body, which may worsen adverse events and make surgical attempts to remove the silicone oil more difficult or impossible. Silicone, when injected into areas with many blood vessels such as the buttocks, can travel to other parts of the body and block blood vessels in the lungs, heart, or brain. This can result in permanent damage to those tissues and lead to stroke or death.” Since removing silicone from the buttock is a big procedure, please seek an experienced, board certified plastic surgeon with significant experience in removing silicone from the buttock. Do your research. Make sure they have performed at least 100 buttock silicone removal surgeries and have the before and after pictures to prove it. Carefully examine their before and after pictures and check their reviews on RealSelf. If you cannot find an experienced, buttock silicone removal surgeon in your neighborhood, consider traveling out of state if you must. Sincerely, Dr. Katzen. Answer: Can Free Silicone Oil Be Removed From The Butt?
While this is intended for a single doctor's response, I have performed Brazilian buttlift in patients who have had silicone oil, PMMA, and other materials without incident. I have also removed foreign materials from the buttocks and then performed the Brazilian buttlift later. Find a plastic surgeon with ELITE credentials who performs hundreds of Brazilian buttlifts each year. Then look at the plastic surgeon's website before and after photo galleries to get a sense of who can deliver the results. Kenneth Hughes, MD Los Angeles, CA

Answer: Removal of Silicone Injections Depending on the type of silicone, amount and location of placement in the buttock region, the degree of difficulty of removal can vary. Injection of a permanent substance in the body is often not advisable because reversal is so challenging. Complete removal would require making large incisions and excising the material. This would cause significant scarring and potential disfigurement. A CT scan, in person physical examination and thorough history will be required to address your concerns. This question cannot be addressed on an online forurm. Best wishes.

Answer: Fat Injections Into Silicone Oil Injected Buttocks
Silicone oil injections that are dispersed throughout the buttock can not be removed with significant mutilation of the buttocks. In performing some lower buttocks lifts, I have removed partial amounts of silicone oil but that is coincidental and not a direct intent of the procedure. Since silicone oil can not be removed (unless it is sitting in a large single pocket in the buttocks) the more relevant question is whether fat injections should be done into and amidst a buttock where silicone oil resides. I would think that would be reasonable although the risk of infection and fat resorption may be higher.
