I have a 7 month old and just had the surgery. I am wondering how long before I can hold him close?

Always best to run these types of questions by your plastic surgeon who knows you, your recovery process, and your specific situation/activities best. Remember that he/she is ultimately responsible for your care.

	Generally, if someone can put the child in your arms ( and assuming he is not a “head bonker",  you should be able to hold him approximately one week after surgery.

I tell my patients not to lift heavy objects for several weeks.  Holding a baby could be ok within a few weeks, but I would avoid lifting the baby up.  Best to check with your doctor.
