My size is 38DD and I would like to be C cup.I went to one PS and he said that on my type breast he can do only anchor.Another PS said Im a good candidate for lejour. He said that about 80% of his cases are anchors ,but he will do lejour for me.I will gladly accept less scaring ,but don't want to compromise final shape.I will appreciate more opinions.Thanks.
Answer: Vertical short scar breast reduction
I believe that if you select a plastic surgeon who has extensive experience with vertical scar breast reductions, you will obtain an outstanding shape. In my experience, a vertical mammaplasty produces the best long-term shape for breasts of your size and apparent density, and the most natural appearing results. In my practice, I have modified the technique so that there are no dog-ears or puckers at the base of the vertical incision, and I do not resort to using a transverse incision. You are 100% right: shape is much more important than scars, but in your case I think you can attain a lovely shape with a shorter scar. I wish you well!

Answer: Is Lejour Possible on my Breast?
A vertical skin pattern can be used, but this technique cannot create as tight and full a breast as the anchor pattern. I perform both types, but if you want to have the best shape and removal of the most skin, the anchor pattern would prevail. Find a plastic surgeon with ELITE credentials who performs hundreds of breast surgeries each year. Then look at the plastic surgeon's website before and after photo galleries to get a sense of who can deliver the results. Kenneth Hughes, MD Los Angeles, CA

Answer: You will still have sagging
Yes it is possible for you to have the Lejour but you will still be sagging. Look at the befor/after photos of the surgeon who is recommending you this procedure (make sure they show you front/quarter turn and profile views); I think it is better that you get the anchor lift as it will give you the most amount of lift.

Answer: Is Lejour Possible on my Breast?
Both types of techniques can result in good results. Thus it becomes a more surgeon specific choice. I would do a short scar anchor but that is my choice. Maybe other experts will weigh in.

Answer: Lejour v. Anchor reduction mammaplasty
There are so many variations to reduction mammaplasty. The technique that is chosen should be tailored to fit the goals. The planning may require certain compromises and side effects (i.e. puckering, limitation in shaping, variation in fullness, etc). But in general, I see no reason why a vertical scar type reduction, perhaps with a short intramammary extension should not be an option. In fact, I rarely find the need to use an anchor scar.
