Possible double bubble 3 weeks post op? (Photo)

Question

Is this a double bubble? It's been 3 weeks since silicone implants and the right side looks good but not healing as fast as I'd hoped and the left does lot look right. Right side was smaller BTW. I am seeing my PS tomorrow but she already suggested it could be fixed with fat transfer. I don't like that idea. I want a permanent fix, not a patch. My concern is another surgery and whether or not my ps will or should cover the cost. It could settle, but it does not seem likely. It's extremely tight

Thank you for your question and photos.  At only three weeks post-op, you are in the beginning stages of the healing process.  I tell my patients to wait until about the three month mark before considering revision.  Over the next couple months, your breasts should reduce in healing and settle into place. It does appear to be a double bubble.  This can be corrected with additional dissection in the area to release the tight band causing this.  It may be possible to perform as an office procedure but more than likely a trip to the OR is necessary since it is difficult to anesthetize this entire area with local.  First, though you it may be better to wait and let the implant stretch this tight band, it may improve gradually with time.

Hello, I do appreciate the contour issue on the lower part of the breast that you are describing, but if surgery was only 3 weeks ago there might be continued improvement in the appearance for several months.  Every surgeon will have their own timeframe for doing secondary procedures but I prefer to wait at least 6 months so there is a stable result before doing another operation.  It sounds like your surgeon is following this issue with you and trying to address your concerns.

Thank you for your post, and the photos are very helpful. I certainly see the issue that you are concerned about with regard to the left breast. That is what a version of the "double bubble" can look like. However, although it seems like an eternity, you really are still in the early stages of healing. I would continue to follow with your surgeon to help you through this process. Fat grafting is a possibility, and I would not consider that to be a "patch" necessarily.

Yes. You are looking at the bottom of the breast tissue sitting on the muscle with an implant below that. This is all too common with submuscular implants. Sorry for you

Yes something occurring in the bilateral inferior poles? Did you have previous surgery? Only fat grafts with rigotomies will correct in my opinion after 3 to 6 months healing....

Thank you for the question and the photographs. At 3 weeks from your surgery you are in the early stages of healing. The breast will often appear swollen and potentially lumpy/bumpy and "deformed". This will usually improve over the ensuing months as the swelling resolves and the soft tissues accommodate, although this may not occur at the same rate in both breasts. I typically tell my patients that they will not see the final results for approximately 6 months. I would recommend to remain patient and continue to follow up with your plastic surgeon. This will allow you and your surgeon to discuss your concerns and help allay your concerns. I hope this helps. Best wishes.
