How long to wait after laser tattoo removal before getting coverup?

I am getting a tattoo lightened so I can get a coverup, series of three at 6 weeks apart. How long do you typically recommend waiting after the final treatment, before getting the new tattoo? Thank you

Hi, This is a great question and it is hard to answer.  Keloids are unpredictable, if a person has had them in the past, they are at a higher likelihood of developing keloids in the future but that does not mean 100% they will develop one at a subsequent treatment.  More...

Most Doctors have their preferred laser. I use the Medio Star/Tattoo Star Combo. See an expert in laser tattoo removal for options. It will take a series of treatments for removal and you'll want to wait until it's completely healed, usually 4-6 weeks. Best, Dr. Emer
