Please suggest if microdermabrasion will improve acne scars, PIH and PIE? (Photo)

Or if there are any other treatments for brown skin. I have scars, PIH & PIE from acne. I have done microdermabrasion about 7 years back and found it had improved my scars then. Now I went to a dermatologist to get microdermabrasion done and she suggested to get microneedling done and that microdermabrasion will not improve my acne scars. I have brown skin so I just need to confirm that microneedling will not cause more pigmentation later, also it's very expensive.

Hi,

Microdermabrasion will soften and improve discoloration from acne scarring but it will not improve the scar itself. Where as microneedling will address and improve the area treated by stimulating collagen production causing dermal layer health to improve filling in the acne scars. Microneedling is one of the most natural ways to stimulate dermal health, so it will not cause any adverse pigment reactions, unless it is done incorrectly.Best of luck!
