Weird Nosebleeds After Rhinoplasty?

I had a closed rhinoplasty with L shape silicone implant & nose tip reduction 5 months ago. It was healing well until I started having mild nosebleeds from my right nostril from time to time so the surgeon altered my implant into an I shape. He said there weren't any signs of infections & that I simply had slow healing. Are there any other possible reasons as to why my nose is not healing properly and why there are these seemingly spontaneous occasional mild nosebleeds from my right nostril?

Occasional mild nose bleeds after rhinoplasty can occur. What should be determined is the source of the nosebleeds. If the areas of bleeding are not along areas of incision of dissection, then this is not related to surgery. If they are related to areas of poor healing or friable granulation tissue, this should improve as the scar matures. Only an exam will be able to answer this. Kenneth Hughes, MD Los Angeles, CA

This is one of the possible complications after placement of a synthetic product in the nose. The silicone, which may be partially exposed, is probably the cause of your slow healing. This is why I have used the patient's own tissue for structural grafting over the past 35 years.
