I am 6 weeks post op of Tummy Tuck and gain 10 lbs , is that due to swelling ?

No need to worry. Your weight gain is quite common. Many patients see weight gain after tummy tuck surgery due to swelling and to the relative inactivity that is common during the early recovery process. As you get back into your normal routine including exercise, you should see a resolution in the swelling and the excess weight. Most patients take between 3-6 months to see their final results. 

Hello and a good question to ask as almost every tummy tuck patient has this concern.  Weight gain is usually from not only swelling at the surgical site but also water retention by your body as you heal.  It does go away slowly over time.  Once you are more active, you will notice it resolving.  You might want to check with your surgeon and be sure you do not have a fluid collection under the skin (seroma).  This is something easily corrected.  

See your surgeon for an exam to determine the reason for the weight gain. At 6 weeks post op, it is unusual to have a 10 pound weight gain.
