I had a 7 day post-op follow up appointment and my PS had an emergency and wasn’t able to see me. I had to reschedule an appointment 7 days later since she is only there on Wednesday’s. Is two weeks post-op too long to wait or is it no big deal?

Answer: Is 2 weeks too long to leave stitches in after a breast lift? It would depend on how things were sutured. 10-14 days would be average to remove sutures on the body if you’d had a cyst removed or something but for aesthetic surgery most of us use buried absorbable sutures so they won’t have to be removed and there is no risk of train-tracking. Surgeons often have different opinions so it’s probably best if you discuss this with your own surgeon’s office and go in for an earlier followup if possible. Best of luck!

Answer: Postoperative protocol Dear jrv1125,I remove stitches after week one and week two. But every plastic surgeon has his own postoperative protocol which he recommends to his patients. I would suggest you to discuss this with your plastic surgeon.Daniel Barrett, MD Certified, American Board of Plastic Surgery Member, American Society of Plastic Surgery Member, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
