Ultrasonic rhinoplasty for multiple revisions?

Hello, Ultrasonic Rhinoplasty is not really a different type of rhinoplasty, despite the name. It's the same rhinoplasty, but the surgeon is using the ultrasonic device to modify the bones instead of chisels, rasps, or other power tools. In fact, to use the device, you often have to dissect more of the skin from the bone. The bone part of the rhinoplasty itself is a small part of the entire procedure all together. When dealing with revisions, the cartilage shape and support is actually what we deal with the most. Great rhinoplasty results are not achieved by the tools but by surgeon. Using a ultrasonic device would not change those risks. I hope this is not too direct. I have nothing against the device as I know many surgeons that enjoy using it and it seems to cut bone very nicely. I just see too many revisions from cases where the patients made their decisions based on factors outside of what really matters in rhinoplasty; the ability to produce great results. My advice in a situation like yours is to have multiple consultations with a variety of highly experienced revision rhinoplasty surgeons and compare their advice / assessments. At 5 surgeries, you want the next one to be your last, so even if it takes over a year to find the right doctor, it will be worth the investment. Good Luck!

Non-ultrasound tools work 100% as well as ultrasound tools. They're cool, but often used for marketing. They don't reduce any of the risk you're concerned about. What you need is a surgeon with excellent judgment and skill, to help determine what the risks are of another operation, and to design (if possible) an operation that has the least risk and the highest chance of making an improvement that you would feel makes the operation worthwhile. You might have to consult with a few doctors to get this information.
