Would an intimate area chemical peel be appropriate for me? (Photos)

Late 40s/210 lbs/5’-9” tall. I have always had trouble with the skin in my inner thigh/anogenital area (which is olive-ish and type 3, more or less, as you can see in the photos; the first photo is a close-up view of my thigh and the others are NSFW overall views of the entire area). I have found that removing the hair in the area is a neccessity, but I seem to have have some combination acanthosis nigricans and/or post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation that was exacerbated by years of waxing. Recently, I had a series of laser hair removal treatments that were more effective in some areas than others. Some of the areas that were less successful were areas where I had more severe hyperpigmentation, possibly because my provider needed to use a lower setting. I would like to find a treatment that could improve this hyperpigmentation in preparation for a future round of laser hair removal treatments. I have had chemical peels suggested to me and there are several providers in my area that offer options. What do I need to know before I book a consultation? Are intimate area chemical peels safe? What specific parts of the inner thigh/anogenital area are or are not safe to treat? Is there a specific treatment I should look for? I can’t really avoid friction in the inner thigh area - might a chemical peel might make everything worse? Alternatively, might I be better off looking for a laser suited for darker skin, or just going back to waxing to remove the lingering hair? Thank you!
