Fraxel Dual 1550/1927 laser and sebaceous hyperplasia, advice?

This is a good  question! A good answer to your question is that Fraxel is great for resurfacing acne scars and sun damage accrued over many years.  Sebcaeous hyperplasia does not respond well to Fraxel, a better option is using a Co2 Lumenis True spot.  The laser is to destroy the sebaceous hyperplasisa with a focused target. Before undergoing the Fraxel I would recommend you speak with your Board certified Dermatologist or Plastic Surgeon who has training Laser therapy. Hope this answers your question.

Fraxel will not remove sebaceous hyperplasia.  I have had good luck with skin classic or with smooth beam laser to an individual lesions.  You may need to repeat as necessary.  With regards to acne scars and Fraxel I would discuss your plan with an experience physician and determine I fraxel is the best course for your skin issues.  Good luck with your treatment.

Fraxel is a great laser for pigmentation and acne scars and wrinkles. However, it will not work for sebaceous hyperplasia.  The best way to treat sebaceous hyperplasia is to electrodessicate these lesions individually and maintain this treatment as needed.  Please consult an expert in lasers and cosmetic treatments for the best results.  Best, Dr. Green

I do not believe that Fraxel 1550/1927 is a great tool for sebaceous hyperplasia.  I will often combine hyfrecation or CO2 spot ablation with radio frequency microneedling for the field, with topical or oral retinoids for best long term outcomes.  There may be some recurrence, but maintenance plans with the retinoids may minimise this.  Best wishes, Shobhan.
