Blood blister on 6-week scar after mole removal. (photo)

Question

Mole removal scar is healing nicely for 6 weeks post-op, but a blood blister developed on the spot that's been experiencing a sharp poking pain from a suture that still hasn't dissolved. At a follow up appointment today I was told it's fine and to not pop it, but while washing my face this evening it popped and quite a bit of blood and some white stuff (whitehead? pus?) came out. What should I do to help this heal? That spot is quite tender.

From your single photograph, that scar is fairly apparent at 6 weeks post op.  Admittedly, it takes 6 months to a year for any facial incisions to heal fully.  Any facial surgery can be challenging for sure.  I hope your surgeon was a board-certified Oculofacial Plastic Surgeon or Facial Plastic Surgeon. Mole removal on the face is a delicate art, since as you can see the area treated is directly in the middle of your face.  The central area you are concerned about does not look like a typically healing region.  Please discuss again with your surgeon or seek a second opinion. Once you are certain that central area is healing properly, you can treat with options like gentle massage with vitamin E oil.  Good luck in your recovery.
