When You Have a Panniculectomy, What Affect if Any Does It Have on the Pubic Area? (photo)

Panniculectomy is a body contouring surgical procedure that removes hanging fat and skin that is propensed by weight loss. The ways this surgery can affect the pubic area is for the swelling to go down to that area it is very common for that to happen in those cases proper compression and eating are recommend such as leave aside salty food beacause of the retention of liquids which those could also start to accumulate there for that also Lymphatic massages are recommended. Now if you are wanting to get the pubic area either lifted and or have liposuction that is the decision of the patient you would have to talk to your plastic surgeon to let him know you are look to have that done so he can evaluate and see if it possible or what he recommends being he is the one that properly knows your case.

A panniculectomy is a surgical procedure performed in order to remove excess skin and fat from the lower abdomen. This tissue is referred to as the pannus, or fatty apron. The procedure removes this hanging tissue, which otherwise can cause skin rashes or infection (panniculitis), replacing it with a transverse scar between the two hip bones. In general, this procedure makes the mons area (the fatty tissue of the pubis) appear more prominent. It can also cause lymphedema of this region, further accentuating a full appearance. The panniculectomy can also elevate the position of the vulvar commissure (vaginal opening). This may distort the external genitalia to some degree. The resultant appearance can be simulated by pulling upward on the mons region over several centimeters. In general, these effects are more common with body lift procedures (e.g. circumferential abdominoplasty) than with the panniculectomy. Many of these resultant changes can be addressed after weight loss with body contouring procedures.
