21F. Can I have a reduction genioplasty done whilst have a palate expander?

I currently have a palate expander fixed in my mouth. The expansion (by manual rotation with a key) has been completed and my orthodontist stated it has to be in my mouth for a few months. I am not wearing braces currently although I will be using Invisalign after the palate expander has been removed. Will it be possible for me get a reduction genioplasty to shape my elongated large chin whilst I have a palate expander in ?

If you have a palatal expander in for jaw surgery preparation, then having a reduction may change the surgical plan. I would discuss this with your surgeon/whoever placed the expander first. If jaw surgery is not part of the plan, then a genioplasty should be fine. Depending on how much you are looking to reduce, contouring down the chin may also be an option. This would shave down the chin so it appears smaller, without having to cut the bone itself. Without photos and a history, it is harder to give you a better answer.
