The short answer to your very good question is "not likely". A single varicose vein that involves the superficial venous system is not a marker for an increased risk for deep venous thrombosis (DVT). However, there are several risk factors that predispose patients to DVT. These can be tabulated using the modified Caprini scale.  If your overall risks are low and you have sequential compression stocking applied during your surgery you are very likely to do great. I recommend walking around the bedroom the night of surgery.  You should definitely discuss your concern with your surgeon now (several days prior to your surgery) and get his/her precise recommendations.
