What is the difference between popcorn capsuloraphy and popcorn capsulorrhaphy?

Ok not to be snarky but the only difference is that one is spelled correctly. Capsulorrhaphy is the correct version which basically means manipulation of the pocket where the implant sits. In this case, it is most common to tighten the pocket.

Hi. Not to sound obnoxious, but capsulorrhaphy is spelled correctly. Now there may be differences between how one surgeon and the other surgeon actually do their capsulorrhaphies and there may be different thoughts between how effective a popcorn capsulorrhaphy is, but it is probably just that Dr. #1 inadvertently left an "r" out of the spelling. I would recommend consulting with a board certified plastic surgeon with good experience with breast implant surgery including exchanges. Make sure you have all of your questions answered and that you feel comfortable with your potential surgeon.

There is no difference except the spelling is incorrect. A capsulorrhaphy and spelled with 2 r's and a h. I wrote the very first paper on capsulorrhaphy in 1999 and have performed thousands of these procedures. Typically, popcorn capsulorrhaphies do not work and are waste of time. I would search for a plastic surgeon in your area has extensive experience with breast revision surgery and capsulorrhaphies. Best wishes to you.

those are the same procedure, one has a typo in name of procedure. It sounds like your surgeons have the same plan. Finding the right Dr. is extremely challenging especially with the number of online platforms and resources available. There a lot of great Dr's available. Make sure he/she is a board-certified plastic surgeon. Definitely check to make sure your choice specializes in the procedure you want and spend the time to read through patient testimonials. There is a number of different sites where you can check for reviews (Realself, yelp, google, etc.).You can always pick up the phone and call around also, find an office you feel comfortable with and set up a few consultations.

Both terms may mean the same thing to most surgeons, but the two R term is used more often by most. Both refer to tightening or reshaping the capsules.

A capsulorrhaphy is a technique used to reduce the size of a capsule in areas that it is needed. It is commonly referred to in breast implant revision surgery where it is used to reshape a breast implant pocket by tightening up areas of the capsule that forms around a breast implant. This can be done by the popcorn technique or with sutures or both.
The term is normally used with two R's, and so the term capsuloraphy that you refer to is simply missing one of the R's.

simple answer - doctor 1's office spelled the procedure wrong
the correct spelling is capsulorraphy
either way - its the same thing and very effective. for very lareral or inferior breasts i like mesh support instead of a popcorn capsulorraphy

There is no difference other than one has it misspelled. It is the same procedure. That said, no 2 surgeons do it the exact same way so you should decide on the results they show you of similar surgeries not just the spelling of the word.
