It is difficult to say weather you would benefit from a chin implant without seeing your profile. From the limited photos that you have shown it appears you have very pretty facial features. An in person exam with an experienced surgeon that does a lot of aesthetic facial surgery is what you would benefit most from. Best of Luck!!!

I am sorry that you are not pleased with your results and especially sorry that your surgeon is not being forthright with you. There are many surgeons that use permanent suture, so what you are feeling may be the sutures that were placed during your facelift. The only way to know for certain is to ask your surgeon what type of suture he/she used. If permanent suture was used, removing the sutures can be a straight forward in office procedure. It appears from your photos that you would benefit significantly from volume to your face as well as a lifting procedure. A facial resurfacing procedure to improve the fine lines and wrinkles would also be fantastic. I prefer to address all three at the same time by doing a lower face/necklift, fat augmentation to your temples, cheeks, and laugh lines, and a chemical peel to improve the texture of your skin. Botox would also be of benefit to improve the areas around your eyes. Make sure to consult with a few surgeons and see plenty of their before and after photos. You have great bone structure that should allow you to get an amazing result. Best of luck!!!

That is an excellent question that has many more than yourself confused. Board certification in Facial Plastic Surgery or Plastic Surgery will give you some confidence that the surgeon has been well trained. However, that is only one piece of the puzzle. As important, if not more important is that you see the surgeon's work. Ideally, you have friends or family that have had work by a surgeon and they were happy with the results. Make sure that the work that your friends or family had done is what you are interested in. For instance, a surgeon may do a great breast augmentation but rarely perform facelifts. If you do not know anybody that has had the procedure you are interested in, then I highly recommend you visit with a few surgeons and see numerous before and after photos as well as ask to speak to previous patients.

We do over 100 facelifts a year and whenever I see a new patient I always show them numerous before and after photos so that they get an idea of my aesthetics. I personally prefer a natural, rejuvenated look rather than a pulled, plastic, overdone look. Patients that see my work and want a pulled look know they need to go elsewhere.

It is also important that you feel comfortable with your surgeon as a person. You are trusting your face to this person, so you need to have complete confidence that he/she will be acting in your best interest and not just trying to do a procedure.

Experience does matter. The more you do a procedure, generally the better you get. You should always ask your surgeon how many he/she does a week/month/year.

Once you have done the above, you should feel confident that you have done your homework. You can now put your trust in your surgeon and concentrate on healing and getting a fantastic result. Best of Luck!!

Your chin is significantly underprojected. By projecting your chin, you will significantly improve your profile. When assessing whether to have a chin implant or something more aggressive, you need to have your bite evaluated. If you simply have a small chin but your bite is good (microgenia) then a chin augmentation procedure is appropriate. If you have a significant overbite and a small chin (micrognathia) then you should at least have the discussion of whether to move your lower jaw forward to improve your bite and augment your chin.  A chin implant is a very straight forward, low risk procedure with a very high satisfaction rate that can be done with local anesthetics or at a surgery center. Also, if you are unhappy with the augmentation,  the procedure can be completely reversed when using a silastic implant. Best of Luck!
