Did you have the filler injected into the temple? Was it recent? If the filler puts some pressure on the vein, it may enlarge a bit in the area just before it. Some massage may help decrease the pressure and it will resolve.
Thank you for your question. Without a photo or in person physical examination it is difficult to determine why you have a vein to your temple. The most beneficial source of information in this case is your injector. Consulting your injector will allow you to receive a specific answer and assess before and after photos. Best.
You describe a common consequence of filler injection in the temple area in someone with prominent veins. I observe this the most when I inject Sculptra into the temporal areas (due to the way Sculptra is reconstituted, higher amounts of fluid are injected into this compartment then with Juvederm). This is a result of some venous compression and is somewhat expected and something I warn patients about. On the other hand, care must be taken not to overly compress the veins in order not to cause any vascular compromise in this area. Therefore, I tend to inject this area slowly, with gentle massage, and I typically see the bulging resolve within 24 to 48 hours.
The swelling of the vein following close injection of a filler is most likely due to compression of the vein either by swelling post filler or extrinsic compression of the area above the draining site of the vein. I would just allow time for this to resolve on its own. If it is due to swelling then this will resolve soon. If due to compression then it will take longer.
Possibly the juvedrm is constricting the vein a little. Massage the area well and consistently and this should go away. If it persists go and see you PHYSICIAN injector. I believe this is a very temporary issue. My Best, Dr C
