Is it safe to inject botox for glabellar lines if you have a nose silicone implant?

Just wondering if there is a high likelihood for complications or infections? And should one be cautious to not inject the Botox directly on top of the radix area, where the forehead and the implant connect? Thank you in advance!

Hello and thank you for your question. Yes, Botox is a safe treatment even if you have an implant on your nasal bridge. However, you should always tell your surgeon about the implant beforehand. As long as the injector stays away from the implant, the risk of infection will most likely be low. Your injector needs to be aware of your implant.

The answer depends slightly on the size of the nasal implant. Usually they do not extend beyond the level of the radix. Botox injections for the glabellar region are often done slightly above this area. The injector should take care to be aware of the location of the nasal implant when performing the injection. It should be possible for the injector to stay away from the nasal implant while still addressing the glabellar lines. If the needle punctures the implant or the tissue pocket holding the implant, then the risk of infection would be increased. If the injector stays away from the implant, there should be a relatively low risk of infection.

If your injector is adept at Botox, the injection should always be aseptic (sterile).  You should let them know about your nasal bridge implant just to be safe.

The injections are performed in the glabellar region of the forehead.
