Horseback riding after a breast augmentation?

Most patients can resume daily activities after a breast augmentation; however, the first few weeks are the most crucial as far as formal exercise, lifting, pushing or pulling.  That being said, waiting 4-6 weeks after a breast augmentation is a good time period to wait.

You should check with your surgeon, who knows you best, about this. I have my patients wait 4 to 6 weeks before resuming any type of formal exercise, depending on how they are healing. Good luck.

Being a hunter/jumper rider myself, I understand your your eagerness to get back in the saddle.  I am also aware of the unpredictability of horses and the inherent danger that riding presents. I advise all my equestrians to wait at least 4 weeks for flat riding and 6 weeks to be back jumping.  It would be unfortunate to have an accident an compromise your results.

Thank you for the question. Long-term patients who undergo breast augmentation surgery should be able to return to all activities with full strength. 
Timing to return to specific types of exercise will vary from one patient to another. Best to check with your plastic surgeon for specific advice. Generally, I suggest patients gradually ease back into the strenuous aerobic exercise 4 to 6 weeks postoperatively, assuming that they are doing well and there have been no complications.  Always wear a supportive bra when horseback riding.Use common sense, listen to your body, and gradually resume previous activity.  Best wishes.
