I have been getting tested to see if I have idiopathic intercranial hyertension. I have ot yet gotten my results back but I have a tummy tuck coming up. It was fluke that I found out I might possibly have IIH and I'm still wanting to go ahead with the tummy tuck. I feel like if I had not found out I needed to be tested I'd still be going in for the surgery so is it really dangerous. Thank you in advance!

Answer: Tummy Tuck Is An Elective Procedure You should not have any elective surgery until the issue of intra-cranial hypertension is addressed and you are cleared for surgery by a neurologist. This problem could increase risks of complications from anesthesia or surgery. Severe intra-cranial hypertension can pose serious health risks such as brain swelling with permanent neurologic dysfunction. The tummy tuck is purely elective- you do not need to have this procedure for health reasons.
