Vacation booked 2 weeks after breast augmentation surgery, is there any precautions I should take?

Travel is possible after Breast Augmentation surgery and most certainly you will need to take precautions.  I discourage any aerobic exercise for 3 weeks after surgery and limited lifting. As for the incisions, it is best to not expose them to swimming pool water, oceans, rivers, or hot tubs for 6 weeks.  Speak with your Plastic Surgeon for his/her specific recommendations post op.  Good luck.

Hello,Thank you for your question. 2 weeks could be cutting it close. People can travel and do many things at 2 weeks post BA, however your incisions may still be at risk of infection and you will have inflammation present. Suntanning and any upper body exertion should be avoided. Because your activity will be limited it may not be an ideal time for you to take a vacation. I recommend that you share your concerns and plans with your surgeon so that they can advise you.All the best

I would advise limiting heavy lifting and strenuous activity for 4-6 weeks and not submerging the incisions in water until 6 weeks. But, every surgeon has different preferences and you need to follow your surgeon's advice.Best of luck!

You should really be asking you're surgeon these questions but certainly I would not let a patient of mine in a swimming pool (bacteria!) with relatively fresh incisions after a breast augmentation.  And by no means tanning.  If any UV rays get through your bathing suit to the scar, it can permanently pigment it.  Tanning ruins the skin, causes sun damage, and increases skin cancer risk regardless.Again, talk with your surgeonBest of luck!

A lot of these questions are ones you should be asking your surgeon.  He or she will have specific postoperative protocols that they have found to be successful.  I generally ask my patients to avoid being in the pool for at least 3 weeks after surgery.  Wearing a bikini for short periods of time should be okay but you should protect your incisions from sun exposure for several weeks.  Good luck!

It is very important to check with your surgeon's protocol as instructions may vary from surgeon to surgeon. You should be fine on the plane, but once you arrive at your destination, take extra care to keep your incisions protected from the sun. It's also a good idea to avoid swimming at 2 weeks post-breast augmentation. Other than these precautions, I'd say just check in with your plastic surgeon to see if there are any specific post-op instructions he or she recommends.

You do need to be careful because exertional activities CAN still cause acute bleeding that will require surgery to resolve... and if you have any wound issues, this will prevent you from getting it wet under water.  So plan to have no major fun (unless just laying poolside is fun for you) and anticipate that your implants may be higher than you are comfortable with, preventing you from enjoying your bikini top, unless you wanted the fake look to start with.  No topless sunbathing until the redness is gone from your incision.

Thank you for your question, these are questions you definitely would want to ask your surgeon as every doctors post-op instructions vary. I recommend my patients not submerge their breasts in oceans, bath tubs, swimming pools, and hot tubs for 4 weeks post breast augmentation due to increased risk of infection. I don't recommend tanning your scars for 1 year. I think wearing a bikini top along with SPF on your scars would be ok, however, I would ask my surgeon before.Best of Luck
