How tight should my sports bra be after a BA?

This is a great question for your plastic surgeon. They will be able to answer it specifically. In my office I do not use any bra for the first week, because I feel that it's more comfortable. At one week, my patients typically wear a sports bra that's a little bit loose. It's important to make sure that there is not too much pressure on the incisions. Congratulations on your surgery!

Thank you for your question.  Although post operative instructions do vary from one plastic surgeon to another, my advice is that if the compression bra is causing marks, it is too tight and best to adjust to a more comfortable fit.  Best of luck.

As long as its easy to put on and not making you lose circulation it should be fine. Please consult with your surgeon for a proper evaluation of your bra or you can buy one he/she provides in clinic.

Thanks for your often asked question.  We provide a sports type bra for our patients - it is a bra specially made for after the procedure, but any well fitting sports type bra is excellent.  Think soft, supportive, and comfortable.  Snug but not uncomfortably tight for approximately two weeks after the procedure.  At that time, I recommend a 'regular' bra, which may be an underwire if comfortable.  Don't purchase any expensive bras to fit you perfectly for a few months to allow for swelling and shape to be where they'll end up.  Good luck!Cheers,Brad Remington, MD

Thank you for the question. I provide my patients with 2 post-surgical bras to wear for 2 weeks following surgery. I recommend you call your surgeon to determine what they want you to wear. It does sound like the one you are using may be too tight. Best wishes!
