Are 545cc Moderate Profile implants too large for me? (photos)

Question

I am 5'4" 120lbs and have had one child. I am currently a 32d/dd depending on what bra I am wearing. During breastfeeding I was a full 32G and I am trying to get that look back. The 545cc Natrelle moderate implants are the largest ones my Dr. recommends for me, and I like how they look, but I am worried that other people will think they are too big for my frame. I have a 00 waist but I do lift weights and have a larger rear. I know I will lose some volume as they are going under the muscle.

Hi there, thank you for your question. As long as you feel happy with your breast size, you should not worry about what people think. But if you want to have a more natural look, I suggest you to have 400-450 cc implants. Good luck!

It certainly looks like they will fit, it just depends on whether or not you are comfortable with that size, and the best way to determine that is to try on the sizers at your PS' office- wear them around for a while to see if you're comfortable with the look and feel!

545 cc implants weigh over 1 lb each, will not fit underneath the muscle and will extrude inferiorly and laterally. At size 32, each 100 cc of implant corresponds to 1 cup size change. 200 cc implants would take you from a DD to a G. However, your bigger problem is your breasts are too low on the chest wall. The technique I recommend is a lift using The Bellesoma Method. This will reshape your breast tissue creating upper pole fullness without implants, elevate them higher on the chest wall and more medial to increase your cleavage. Vertical scars are avoided, nipple sensation (in 95%) and the ability to breast feed are maintained. Later, fat transfers can be performed if additional volume is desired. Implants are not lifetime devices. 8% fail within the first year and 30% fail within six years. Fat transfers are permanent and incorporated into the body.

Hello, thank you for your question. A board certified plastic surgeon will be able to guide you to the correct size implant. Based upon measurements of your chest wall and breast imprint width as well as knowledge of all breast implant sizes and profiles should make this process easy. Try on a profile bra with various silicone sizers your PS recommends under a tailored blouse, tank top, bikini, workout clothes, and other garments you typically wear so that you have the best idea of whether the garments fit as desired with the implant selected. Select the size that boosts your self-esteem, and fits your anatomy. Choosing an implant based on an aesthetic goal that exceeds your anatomic capacity may lead to complications and possibly revision later in life.

An appropriately sized implant is determined by how well it matches your soft tissue envelope, not whether you'll look proportionate. The former is a matter of eliminating complications from an implant too large for your anatomy, the later is opinion. Therefore, you would need to be seen and your breasts measured (width, nipple to fold on stretch, skin elasticity) to determine if that implant is not going to increase your risk of complications. In office sizing using purpose build sizers will give you an idea of how you would look.

breast implant type and sizing selection is a complicated process and requires a detailed consultation that includes a discussion of your goals, a detailed examination, and a lengthy discussion. But the decision will always start and end with the patient. When it comes to sizing, we have all of our patients find 3 photos of their desired breast size. We ask for naked breast photos because clothing can obscure the true size (push up bras). Next, we consult with patients and go over the photos and take detailed breast measurements during a physical exam. Next, we using a sizing algorithm to determine a range of implants that will work based on the exam and the measurements.Lastly, during the operation, we use silicone sizers in the operating room to see how the size actually looks in the breast. We sit the patient up in the operating room, while asleep of course, and compare the sizer result with their desired look photos. If it is too small, we start the process over with a slightly larger implant. We don't stop until we get the perfect match.Of all of my breast augmentation patients, every one of them has been happy with their size due to this detailed and meticulous process. You don't want to invest time and money into a result that is either too big or too small.You should discuss your concerns with a board-certified plastic surgeon and make sure that your surgeon understands your goals.

It is really difficult to answer your question as there is a lot that goes into sizing our patients.  We perform measurement, evaluate the skin envelope elasticity, look at photos, look at what the patient came up with the rice test, look at diagrams and finally use the Allergan/Mentor sizing system to size the patient in the office.  We obviously listen and discuss exactly what the patient wants and doesn’t want so that we can deliver the expected results.

Your best path to determine what size would work and how big you can be would be to meet with your surgeon again to discuss your options.  Although I dont know your measurements, judging by the photos you have posted I would think that a 545 cc Moderate implant will wind up being too wide for your breast width.

The size you selected will be large and heavy implants, probably too heavy for your neck and shoulders. I would suggest going down to a more realistic size that you can enjoy for many years.

I always measure patients as well as have them try on sample sizes in a bra to see what looks good. Realize that for your size, the implants you describe will give you very large breasts, which may make you uncomfortable over time, and appear large for your size. It depends what you want, but the ones you are mentioning are much higher than average.
