What is the proper treatment for laser burns after liposuction? (Photo)

Question

I received a liposuction treatment earlier this month. All post-surgery symptoms seemed to be normal until what I thought were bruises started to blister and turned out to be burns from the laser. The surgeon prescribed silvadene but I've read that silvadene will do nothing to prevent scars. I didn't have stretch marks nor any scars prior to this procedure and would like to minimize scarring. Should I make an appointment with a burn specialist? How can I treat the burns to prevent dramatic scarring?

If this is currently blistered you need hyperbaric oxygen treatments and proper wound care.  If there is only pigmentation, at this point there is very little you can do however you should see a fellowship trained burn / laser / scar expert.  I am sorry this happened to you. Best, Dr. Emer.

Sorry to hear about your situation.Silvadene is the best early treatment as is staying in close contact with your doctor.Main early problem is to prevent infection and get the wounds healed.Then anti-scarring techniques are used.Best wishes, Dr Denkler
