Is it unusual for your butt to itch intensely 8 days following a BBL?

Hi I’ve been having generalized itching in my buttocks which just started today, post-op day 8 My stitches came out today, I'm applying Bactroban, everything looks good, healing well. There may have been a bit too much fat tranplanted, hoping that will go down as the swelling subsides. But is itching, without a rash or systemic symptoms, something to be concerned about? Thank you!

Dear ca10127,
itching alone can occur after fat transfer and in most cases it is not sign of any problem. However, if it is combined with redness, pain, rash, fever, it can  be a sign of infection or other problems. If you are concerned, it is best that you visit your plastic surgeon for further assessment. Only after thorough examination you can get proper recommendations and advice.

Itching is fairly common after surgery.  If there is any sign of rash or allergic reaction, that would be something different.  Follow up with your PS to determine if any of your medications could be the culprit.  Keep a positive attitude, and eat/drink enough complete protein to facility wound recovery.

Thanks for the question and provided information as well.
You are still early on the healing process, at the stage you are in, itching is normal and you should avoid scratching.
If you have any concerns, please follow up close with your plastic surgeon.

itchiness after surgery is common. You should avoid scratching your skin.  Scratching the skin will cause histamine release, more inflammation and will definitely make the itchiness worse.  If you can avoid scratching then this will subside with time. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
