Asymmetrical face. SHould I do buccal fat removal? (Photo)

Question

It's been almost two years since I've started to notice my face has become noticeably more unsymmetrical. The right side of my face is fuller and more round than my left side. I've already done TMJ Botox, the pictures bellow are the year results of that. I like how my left side is slimmer and want to find out how to get my right side on the same page. Should I do buccal fat removal or will it leave me needing to get a fat transfer back to the area once I get older? I'm almost 27.

If the asymmetry is caused by different amounts of buccal fat inside each cheek, a one sided buccal fat removal procedure can possibly help improve symmetry. It will be best to consult a board certified facial plastic surgeon in person and discuss your goals and options after a physical examination.

Buccal fat pad removal on one side may improve your overall symmetry. You have a somewhat rounded face and the right side is fuller. More photos would be helpful.

Hello, thank you for your question. Buccal fat removal is good option to contour the face especially if you have very round cheeks. Elevating the cheek bones with filler can also contour or slim the appearance of the face, but has limitations. Buccal fat excision can be done comfortably, awake, under local anesthesia in under an hour. The results are long lasting and the recover is quick. The buccal fat pad is a rounded mass of fat in the middle of your cheek. It’s located between facial muscles, in the hollow area beneath your cheekbone. The size of your buccal fat pads affects your face shape.
Everyone has buccal fat pads. However, the size of buccal fat pads can vary greatly.
If you have larger buccal fat pads, you might feel like your face is too round or full.
You can be a candidate for a Buccal Pad removal surgery.
