I hate my nose and went to have a consultation was so excited. Finally going to get rid of my horrible conk and I didn't care how much for. I sat with the surgeon to be told I couldn't have a nose job. All my dreams came crashing down. It's taken me months to get over the shock but still don't understand why I can't have one. I have good health and have no breathing problems. Was it just the surgeon maybe? I feel my nose is very large and thick at the end and stucks up like a pigs nose.
Answer: Options Hello, if the surgeon did not give you specific reason of why he felt that you were not a candidate for surgery, then I would probably seek out a second opinion. There are many reasons why a surgeon may elect to not perform a rhinoplasty. I would discuss this further with them or seek another opinion.

Answer: Rhinoplasty candidate It is important to have realistic expectations and very specific goals in mind on what You would like to try to accomplish when undergoing an elective rhinoplasty procedure. Rhinoplasty is one of the hardest operations to perform correctly in the entire field of cosmetic surgery, so choose your surgeon very wisely based on experience. Thick skin will be an adamant to see a very refined result in the tip of the nose.

Answer: Different Surgeon This is a big decision for you and unfortunately, you had a bad experience with a surgeon who didn't take the time to explain to you what it entails to have a rhinoplasty. You are a candidate for nasal surgery, as long as you understand the limits of what it can do for your face. I always explain to my patients that a good surgeon JUST won't look at the nose, rather look at the whole face. A nose has to match your face. Quite often, patients come in with pictures of celebrities asking for that 'specific nose.' I often have to tell them that one nose that might look perfect on someone, may not look good on their face. I also discuss facial features, skin texture and thickness. Looking at your nose with the pics provided, you have what we would call a relatively 'strong' nose. You also have relatively thick skin. The lower third of your nose is what I assume is your issue when you say 'pigs nose.' you can refine the lower cartilages and do suture techniques to improve the width and shape, however, I would explain to you b/c of your relatively thick skin, tip definition won't show 'refinements' as someone would thin skin would show more of. Then I would show you preop and postop pics of patients similar to your skin texture etc to get a better feeling. Hope this helps and good luck! - Dr. Miguel
