    Thank you so much for your question! Posterior position of your chin and/or jaw may classified by several terms: gonial or mandibular hypoplasia, micrognathism, microgenia, etc.  I really enjoy chin surgery because it creates such a drastic change for my patients. With all the information available these days your question is a common one that I hear. Two specifically answer your question osteotomies of the Facial bones are most frequently performed by Maxillofacial surgeons. With patients that need only minimal vertical length, special implants now exist to accomplish this. This is much less invasive when compared to cutting a breaking the jaw bone. Some patients anatomy still necessitate a genioplasty but overall most can be treated with an implant which is less invasive and also reversible. Regarding creating a v shape to your lower jaw, this may require osteotomies of your mandibular  angles also. Depending on your final bite you may benefit From moving your whole lower jaw.
Once you decide what you want then you need to look at who will do it!  When it comes to deciding on treatment my best recommendations are to meet your prospective surgeon, check out their facility, review their photo galleries either in the office or online and lastly if you feel the need speak to their prior patients.
