How can I get rid of upper chin fat? (Photos)

Question

I've always hated my pointy chin. The fat is so thick I can grab it with to fingures. Everytime I look online on how to fix the problem, double chin pops up, chin augmentation, or chin bone reduction. Which non is my case. I have an x-ray of my face and my jaw bone is perfectly alined I just have a thick layer of fat on top which is all genetics fault. How can I get rid of this fat?

thank you for posting your question. The fullness of soft tissue of your chin you are describing could be also a strong mentalis muscle, or a combination of both. The volume of the muscle could be reduced with botox, however this needs to be done very carefully and certainly will have its limitations, since the function will need to be maintained. Another option could be a careful surgical reduction from the inside of your mouth. But in order to assess your anatomy and the different options that you may have, I think you should consult a board certified plastic surgeon who is trained in treating surgical and non-surgical techniques.I hope this information was helpfulkind regards

Hi, I have performed many facial shaping procedures, including Chin Augmentation with dermal fillers or silastic chin implants, for over 30 years.  There is no significant fat layer in the chin area.  The fullness that you can "pinch" or grab is the mentalis muscle lying above the mental (chin) bone.   Non smiling photos of your chin/lower face from the front and side would help in evaluating your chin projection as well as any sign of "chin ptosis".  Ptosis of the chin occurs when the mentalis muscle sags off of the chin bone at a 45 degree angle.  The correction of chin ptosis depends on the degree of forward chin projection. Should liposuction or dissection of the chin muscle be attempted, this may result in disruption of the muscle creating a permanent "cobblestone" appearance to the chin which can not be reversed.Hope this helps
