Increased pain after having Botox in my masseter muscle for TMJ.

this is my 2nd botox injection for tmj, the 1st injection worked a treat within a day and lasted for about 7 weeks, i have just had my 2nd injection with the same very experienced maxillo facial consultant, in the same area 2 injections of 5oml, it is now 48 hours since having this and the pain in my muscle and face is really servere this only started after having the procedure and i am scared something has gone dreadfully wrong

Botox applied to the masseter muscles works very well in adults with bruxism. It's effects last 3-5 months and some patients even report that they don't find the need to use their custom mouthguards during this time period.

The first episode of frozen feeling was due to the effect of the anesthesia, but the latter which becomes in effect a few days after the injection was due to the Botox that started its action. Usually, this will only last for a month though some may take longer.

This is yet another person on realself.com that has been injected in the masseter improperly.  If the Botox is injected too anteriorly, you hit the risorius muscle, which will affect your smile.  I'm sorry you have this side effect but emphasizes that Botox in this area needs to be...
